The Union of Secondary Students has a membership of over 57,000 second level students, and is always on the lookout for new schools to affiliate.

Please click on a county on the map left to see a list of member schools in that county.
At the moment, membership is on a Student Council basis. A vote is held in the school and 50 + 1% of those voting must be in favour of joining the Union of Secondary Students. If the motion is carried, then the Student Council and all the students within the school are then members, the school is affiliated and the students are 'affiliated students' and have full participation rights.
If you would like to organize a vote to join USS in your school, we will forward you the ballot paper, as well as lots of practical information and advice about membership. We also understand that some schools do not have student councils. In cases like these, we assist the school in collaboration with the National Youth Council & the National Children’s Office in setting one up. Usually it doesn't take much time and the council can decide then whether to apply for membership or not.

The Union of Secondary Students is not a body, which dictates to its members. It is the votes of the members that decide our policies, and we as the elected committee merely carry them out. As members, your council would be in a position to elect two Representatives to attend our general meetings and to vote on behalf of the school.
These Representatives would be free to run for office themselves if they wished (as is any member), and for example to participate in events organized by the Organizing Bureau of European School Student Unions. Perhaps most importantly, however, your representatives can raise at our General Meeting’s and at any other time they feel the need to, matters of importance that arise in their school that they feel we can help with.
