The Welfare Working Group works in conjunction with the Welfare Officer in the development of Union Policy on welfare related issues. This working group is also charged with the provision of Union services within this field. In June 2005 the Welfare Working Group under the guidance of the Welfare Officer established NITELINE.
NITELINE is a non judgmental, non directive listening service run by the Union of Secondary Students, providing a friendly listening ear for second level students throughout Ireland.
Niteline.org is the service's online presence, providing information about our phone service, our activities, student welfare and health. It is also home to a community of students who use the forums for everything from moaning about the price of concert tickets nowadays (a very important issue, we'll have you know) to discussing issues such as school facilities, mental health and physical wellbeing. Everyone is encouraged to join and contribute!
If you would like to contribute to the Welfare Working Group and get involved please contact our Welfare Officer on ussweflare@hotmail.com
This should be an interesting new year for the Welfare Working Group with the USS taking on the challenge of running SHAG WEEK in member schools in February 2006, and remember its all a bit of fun !
