The Financial Committee was set up by Congress in March 2005; it was set up to ensure that all of the accounts and finances of the organisation are up to date and accounted for. The Financial Committee has the power to carry out investigations into financial matters within USS and has a role in forming the annual budgets.
Members of the Financial Committee are nominated by the Treasurer and appointed by the Executive Committee of USS. Both the Treasurer and Fundraiser are ex-officio members of the Financial Committee, However the Financial Committee does not have a power of veto over Union expenditure this power can only be jointly exercised by the President and Deputy President.
